YOU COULD WIN!

2020 Eyewitness to History Contest

Uncover a fascinating story about the past, have your writing appear in JS, and score $250 for yourself and your teacher!

Do you know someone who took part in a mission to space, campaigned for civil rights, or fled violence in their homeland? Chances are, people in your community have captivating true stories to tell—and we want you to uncover them. Take part in our annual contest and you could win big!

To enter, interview someone who experienced a historic event in person. Then send us the interview (500 to 800 words) in Q&A form.

Entries must include:
● an introduction saying who you interviewed and a brief description of the event he or she experienced.

● a conclusion explaining what you learned from this project.

If you win, we’ll publish your story—and give you $250! (Your teacher will also win $250.) Two runners-up will each get $50. Click on these links for interview tips, the entry form, and official rules.

Entries must be postmarked by January 31, 2020.
